I think if you was to ever need it would be worth thousands . I have heard of a few motors being knocked off and end up in the boat with you. Is anybody using a motor safety chain ? And what does everybody think of these.

There is no way to know if it really works. I think it's a gimmick

over the years,I've known of two anglers that were badly injured when a motor flipped into the boat...I ' don't know if it's a gimmick or not but am pretty sure anything you stretched across the rear of the boat would help keep the engine from flipping up into the boat...
also believe you could make one of these out of a piece of cable and attach it to the tie downs on either side of the engine....

Plenty of talk about it in BBC.

I have one. Not sure if it's a gimmick or not but better than nothing. Hopefully I will never find out. It's like insurance.....you hope you never need it and you hope it's there when you do need it.

I have one it came on my boat from Rex Chambers, he hit a stump and the motor flipped up on the deck and was wide open spinning around on there taking a chunk out of his leg and hitting his partner in the head. google it...

haha I followed the link to the leash and watched the video and theres a pic of my boat behind my rv when I picked it up..

I just ordered one. Thanks for posting this. I had no idea these things existed. Seems like a cheap insurance policy to me.

Interesting how far opposite opinions can go.

I dont want a 250hp engine running 10k rpms possibly flopping around on back of my boat or on my back deck. I would rather it just go down and I file my insurance claim.

The idea is if it's attached to boat or jack plate it stays in one place...if it comes off without cable it can end up on deck or your lap running

Ok.....just so I'll know....

If you hit something hard enough to rip the HUGE bolts off the transom, or the jackplate, a cable is gonna save it?

I thought was what the "other" cables going to the motor were for. Ha!

I don't buy into it. I figure my Skeeter has an aluminum reinforced transom that runs up through the hull....if I tear something up that bad..it's simply a really bad day.
