We are coming into the spawn here. And beds are showing up everywhere. 5ft deep and less. But only 2 had fish out of 100. I looked everywhere points, drops , creek intersection basically every staging area I can think of. We had rain all day and it’s cold rain 55degrees. Where do they go are they coming up making beds at night going back deep?

They are staging, suspending and waiting for the right water and weather conditions to move up. The fish that are up there already just are not going to bite until the wind and the sun warms things up so they have the mother instincts. It takes wind and warm sun to put them in the biting mood. Once a Bass starts the spawn she does not stop. She just bites under favorable conditions of wind, warming water, good cover and sun. When it is cloudy, no wind and cool She either will not bite or the bait is taken by the tails and moved. Watching the line helps on those days.
Don't know about your area; but we are only getting one good day a week if that. Turn around twice and this is going to be over. Fish enough days in a row and you will run into a favorable section of spawning grounds. Fish one or two days a week and you will be scratching your head wondering where they are.

I found some really shallow on Fork the other day. I normally don't like fishing in one to two feet of water but that's where the action was for me... throwing a 5 inch hollow belly on an underspin. Just hopping it over stuff and letting it drop. Had to repeat same cast a few times to get them to hit. Most of bass 15 to 17.5 inches. Sure beats getting skunked. Lost a decent fish halfway between me and that bird. It actually walked over to check out what all the noise was about. Hard to fish too shallow right now if there is thick vegetation in my opinion. Water was stained and I didn't see any beds.

Today was rain, no wind , cloudy and 55high I believe. 52. When I left at 7. I caught one fish on the bed and I caught it twice. It’s a male prolly 2.5. I will be there everyday for next 5 days. Next couple days sunny and warm.

They are waiting on the next full moon, cows to eat, and a little wind. .....they are suspending off the banks a ways.

Jerkbait if they want slow Trap if they want fast There are some mid depth cranks and square bills that suspend on the pause
