Went in the drink last night. First time in 46 years of fishing. Upgraded my tromo from a 24v Maxxum to 36v Ultrex. Had it on 7 or so, hit the button with my foot, danced around the front deck for 20 to 30 minutes, then went in. Shook me up for a minute but didn't hurt anything. Was stunned how easy it was to pull myself back in the boat with adrenaline pumping. Let's hear your favorite swimming while fishing stories so I won't feel alone!

On a looong cast saw my line moving so I set the hook. I fought at least a seven pounder for what seemed like an eternity back to the boat. Fish came off right at the boat and was dazed due to the fight. I reached down to try and grab the fish and it spooked and I got spooked and off the side I went...

Wife and I were fishing in a bunch of standing timber. Boat was about to side swipe one of the trees so I reached out to push off of it. As soon as I pushed off, the branch snapped and I went head first into the water. My wife nearly fell out laughing at me.

Have fallen out multiple times. All on Ray Roberts, Once during spring break, coming out of cove on Indian, trolling motor on high, lots of boats, hit a stump and knew i was going in, laid my rod on the deck as i was going in. Another time entering cove, turned big motor off going to stop drift by going to front of boat and stop momentum by pushing off of tree, snapped in half and in i went, wife and kids trying not to laugh until i did. once tied up on brush pile crappie fishing, big waves, at front of boat on knees trying to untie, big wave, i do a front flip into water.

Fell out while trolling on the front of th r boat. I had one of those kind of leaner seats that wasn't big enough for my [censored]. Smacked a stump going trolling speed and threw me right off the front. Wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't kicked the rattle trap rod on deck and gotten a hook stuck in my heel as I fell out. Came out of the lake with 2 rods, one in hand and one in foot.

Years ago as a teen, with my buddy in his 2-man boat up in Cottonwood on Lew...An errant cast go me hung about eye-level in standing timber. We trolled over and I had to have one foot in the boat and the other on the tree to get to the bait. Just as I got it free, the boat starts to separate from the tree. It was like a scene out of a cartoon. I start to do the splits. I reach for a limb about 4" in diameter directly above me...it was strong enough to hold me for about .2 seconds. Into the drink I went. Thank goodness it was summertime.

Another time, back in college I was fishing Big Sam for the first time with the AGGIE Anglers. It was February or March, I believe. Cold as a well digger's ***, water temp in upper 40s/lower 50s, bundled up with several layers. Early in the day we were having some trouble with the outboard. It only had a manual tilt so I'm on the transom trying to leverage the 50 horse 'Rude up. Foot slips & in I go. Adrenaline-aided, I was able pull myself back into boat so fast I barely got damp on my innermost layers. Uncomfortable, but determined, fished the rest of the day.

I had Little alum boat with a big trolling motor. I step on the button thinking I am going one way and the boat goes the opposite direction, I go swimming. Hot summer time so no problem and was just funny. I have taken my wallet and keys out of my pocket when I fish ever since.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I took a dip in birch creek one cold feb morning. Just hit a stump wrong. Dropped my rod on the deck on the way in. Pushed off bottom and came flying out of the water with my cellphone in my hand and threw it on the deck of the boat. Got changed out of my wet clothes into a rain suit. Went back to that restaurant by the launch at the 2946 bridge to warm up. That bitter old man that ran the place threw me out for not having my wet shoes on after we both made quite the scene.

Was fishing by myself came in to take out and was just about to step out on to dock when this old gentleman that was standing there stuck his foot out and pushed my boat back out so it wouldn't bump the dock which caused me to miss the dock with my foot and face plant into the dock and roll off in the water unconscious but it didn't take long for the 55 degree water to wake me back up , luckily there was another boat coming out and they grabbed my docking rope floating in the water and pulled my boat back in and helped
me out of the water, Poor old gentleman apologized over and over I told him it was no big deal that a little water wasn't going to hurt me
I make it home and get out of my wet clothes and my wife that is a nurse has a fit, I have bad bruises all over my upper arm and chest a mild concussion and 2 cracked Ribs
Wife makes me promise every time I start to go by myself now that I'll wear my life jacket until I get the boat on the trailer and she's right , I could have died that day if the other boat had not been there

ONCE!!! Fishing off back deck in a friends boat during a Tournament. Im used to a big front deck. He was putting a fish in livewell. I had to step back so he could open it. There weren't no full step space available. I stepped in splashwell. Different level. Lost balance & KNEW i was goin in backwards!!!
I made a Grab at the Power Pole (missed) & feet were still on back deck. Partner grabbed my feet. All that did was pin my legs& feet on back deck. Head & upper body was underwater face up!! AND couldnt sit up. Water logged clothing is heavy, so, there i was, facing up, head & shoulders under water, blubbering " Let me go" under water & him TRYING to keep me from going all the way in, while anchoring my feet down. I FINALLY got a grip on Power Pole again & pulled my head above water for a breath & said " Geez, are you trying to drown me??? He weighs about 135# soaking wet. Im 260 dry, BUT, HE wasn't wet & I wasn't DRY. Finally got my hips back onto deck & sat up. Then we BOTH almost fell out laughing so hard.
