Looking to go to lake Falcon for bass fishing. Has anyone had any bad experiences or felt unsafe when going? Debating between here and Amistad.

If you do a search you will find many threads about this topic.
That said, I go every year for the last 5 years and never had any issues or felt unsafe. Even crossed into Mexico and fished Sugar and never felt unsafe.
Use common sense. Lock your stuff up. Be off the Lake and back to your hotel or motel by dark. If you see anything fishy (other than bass ha ha) head the other way. If youre so inclined call the Sheriffs Dept and report it. Its fine. Never had an issue.

Was down there last weekend, go to Amistad! Fishing was terrible for us and many others not to mention the Hispanic people out in front of our motel room throwing a party in the parking lot all night. The gill nets were thick on the Mexican side with lots of commercial fisherman working them hard. We met some guys at breakfast who said between the three of them they had caught 4 bass in 5 days of fishing and they were headed home. We caught three small fish and two magnum sand bass the one day we fished it. Anyway I would go somewhere besides Falcon right now.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

I have been to Sugar and never felt unsafe. Just have to show a little more vigilance than normal. All the things Dan said and I would add to make sure you have a Mexican license if going to their side of the lake and do not have a weapon on you if your on their side of the lake.

I would be more worried about the bad Fishing then the safety. The fun part of falcon is the south Texas experience. I justwouldnt go down with high expectations of great fishing.

Never had a problem at Falcon. Just use common sense and you'll be fine. Keep your head on a swivel.
As for the fishing, typical post spawn blues going on at Falcon. Offshore is the name of the game now for good fish.

I would agree with Barrett. We were down there 3 weeks ago and although big fish were caught, guys I fished with had an 8.5 and a 7.5, but overall it was a 4 day grind. Not big numbers. Some of our party did better than others. The biggest fish was in 20 fow and caught on DD Crank. But yeah safety, I would not worry if you just use your head you will be just fine.... Tons of Law Enforcement down there as well so thats nice.

I've been to both on the past few weeks and Amistad was a ton better than Falcon. You have nothing to worry about at Falcon (unless you're doing something illegal), but the fishing was just a lot better on Amistad.
