TPWD and the Lake Fork Sportsman's Assoc will be putting on a "State of the Lake" to address the Giant Salvania at Fork on Tuesday evening Nov 21. 2017 at the Emory City Centre. St Hwy 19 on the left just north of the city of Emory. At 6:30 PM.

And it will be filmed so that those who cannot make it can view what was said.

But of course not being there you can't ask any questions.

Have any questions about crossing the boom or the spraying?

Seems like they have proven on other lakes that spraying doesn't work. Nor does burning it off..

Id be interested to hear what months they propose spraying

With potential for some prolonged hard freezes January/February the cost/time/labor expenses and side effects of spraying could be significantly minimized

Let us know what they say tonight. I was at Caddo this weekend and it is really bad out there this year. Maybe the state will jump on the issue at Fork as I am certain it provides more of an economic benefit to the state than Caddo does.

Most likely they will spray during the spawn. Second most likely, they will hire a sub contractor who will spray everything green in and next to the lake.

Before anybody says they want something done about the salvania like spraying they need to take a ride to toledo. Go check out Indian mounds, or any of the places that were sprayed. The grass on the bank is barely coming back. Then they do it during the spawn which has no telling what kind of effect on spawning fish or eggs but I'm sure it probably wipes the eggs out. I would like to hear the proposed action for fork. I may be alone here but I don't think it will get as bad as people think. A cold winter will really hurt it and it seems to thrive in calm shallow waters. Waves just push it up on the bank and it dries out and dies. Places like caddo aren't like fork or rayburn or toledo. They get lots of wind and boat waves that will push it up in the hay grass or on the bank and keep it knocked back to where it's not a big issue.

Yep, we saw them spraying on Toledo this year... areas with ZERO Salvinia and they were moving down the bank spraying hay grass. I guess the thought process here is that all vegetation dying is better than a major Salvinia out break? hmmm

Doesnt surprise me. You are talking about guys who spray for money and really dont give 2 rips about the fish or the lake. Theyre hired to do a job and they did it.
