What would you say are the "5" must have rods for any bass fisherman, beginner to pro? And what i mean by this is the length and action and what its used for.

Beginner to Novice? One rod. I recommend a St. Croix, med-heavy action, 7'6".

Here are my choices:
1) 7’4-7’6” Heavy action- used for flipping heavy cover, grass, and c-rig
2) 7’-7’3”- MH- jigs, t-rig,
3) 6’10”-7’- MH- light t-rig, senko, fluke, heavier spinnerbaits
4) 7’-7’3”- M- Moving baits, spinnerbaits, chatterbait, squarebill, trap
5) 6’6”-7’- M- topwater, shakeyhead, wacky rig, weightless

Preferences are individual. I don’t like a long rod over 7’6”. Only have 2, c-rig and a crankbait rod(which I don’t throw enough of).

7'3 Mh Fast or H (like an Amastad) for football jigs, Carolina rigs, and small swimbaits
7'6" M-Mh Fast Composite or graphite (Like dobyns 765cb) for deep cranking or heavy spinnerbaits
7' M-Mh Composite (like dobyns 705cbglass) for shallow cranking squarebills and spinnerbaits, or topwaters and jerkbaits
7' Mh (any 7'mh graphite - everyone makes one) for light tx rig, or weightless and wacky rig
7' H (like east tx grass rake) pitching rod

Go look on Wired 2 Fish, they have a good pair of articles on the 6 rods and reels. I took a look at this earlier this year when I was reviewing my rod and reel combos. I was close but it gave me some good food for thought. Here are the links.

Get five Dobyns 734's. They are as universal a weight/length rod there is. Will fish any bait very well.....almost:-). Huge swimbaits or tiny dropshots not so much.
