I have been trying to learn how to retrieve (walk the dog) stick baits. My lure of choice is the Heddon chug N spook. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Heddon_Chugn_Spook/descpage-HCS.htmlBut I cant seem to get much movement when retrieving. I am using a 7' Duckett Med heavy and a Lews MB reel with 50 lb braid. Should I switch to mono ?? Or Floro. ?? I have lots of issues with spooling line when casting flourocarbon. I am sure that is something I am doing wrong. But anybody have any tips or techniques to help with the stick bait ?? Thanks

Small twitches focusing on getting the rod tip pointed back at the lure quickly
Look at the length of the lure. That's the length (or shorter you want to twitch it). After twitching; as fast as you can, get the rod tip pointing back at the lure to give the lure some slack. Repeat

There are two things that makes a top water bait great for Big Bass. Now granted you may catch more small keepers on other top waters; but if you want the big fish then this is a must in my book. - It must mimic the Dying Quiver. - It must look like and smell like a Shad. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/9017115/Sharing_Spook_TechniquesI only use Stren Original Mono. in 25#. There are no Polymers to make it sink.

use mono and take a small piece of wax and run it over the first 6-8ft of line , the wax on the line keeps it floating above the water , you can also do this when using braid . Robb
