When needed I replace the hooks on my lures just like every other guy. On my top water poppers I stopped spending the money on feathered rear treble hooks and usually go with a regular treble. I've never noticed a difference in bites and was curious what y'alls experiences / thoughts were on this.
Thanks!

I use a feathered treble on my poppers, Sammy's, and prop baits.

I have thrown them many times in Mexico with not much luck. The Super Spook always out performs for me. I also worked them in my years of tournament fishing with much of the same results. They just could not beat my Custom Zell Roland Spook.

What does it do? ( I have no clue ) I saw this explained on MLF the other day.. this years shad spawn are about an inch long. I saw that Thursday fishing as they would scatter when I would reel in my crank bait. When it would get close to the boat they would scatter. The feather is a hatch match for those little shad.. The popper looks like another fish feeding on the shad and the feather looks like he missed. There were schools of small white bass all over the lake busting on top.. i caught 1 on a rattle bait and he was about 6" long. I'm sure there are bigger fish feeding as well.. but I didn't want to chase those fish, so I didn't fish them on top water.

Prefer feathered. Always wet it and fluff it between your finger and thumb to maximize efficiency. Feathers wave under the water better and it gets the fish itchin' to slam it.

It DEFINITELY works better with a feather on a YM. Have lost the feathers before and gotten zero bites on it, after the were biting the feathered version. It just works. As said before, I put them on all topwater baits and some of my crankbaits as well. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
