We are planning to go to Lake Athens this weekend, 1st time out there on a boat...are there a lot of underwater hazards to worry about there? Any place I should be careful of running WOT? Also any advice right now on where to look?
Thanks for any help.

I wish I had saved the email but just a day or so ago, LAPOA sent out an email stating that one area was going to be "marked" by AMWA soon to keep boats from being damaged by an underwater obstruction. A boat had a 7 foot gouge ripped in it a week or so ago, the owner had enough sense to beach it before it sank. I saw a pic of the boat and I believe it was a pleasure boat.
All in all, it is a pretty open lake with a few areas of concern, of course. I'm a kayaker so I don't pay attention to the same issues as boaters. Someone else will likely chime in.

There a two main lake points that have timber on the south end of lake.....they both are on southern shoreline.....stay well to center of lake and you'll be fine.....heck, slow down a little.... it's a nice place to take your time. Fish are everywhere....

really is a small lake so going slow is the best way to get around but it is a very open lake stay to the middle of the lake as far a fishing goes they should be schooling main lake wait for the jet flies and wake boats to start to stir things up then run around chasing them busting on the surface u will need to be quick they only stay up for about 30 seconds or so.
