I think the hole in the water weighed 8lbs.!!!

Had a fun day on Monticello and Sandlin Saturday! Lots of small fish and a few really good ones mixed in to keep interesting. I love fall fishing!

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Add extra protection with a trailer-hook.

I have had times when they would do that and we even added DOUBLE TRAILER Hooks and it still wouldn't work! Never did understand why. So now I will consider a Treble Hook, depending on the conditions.

Was fishing the nasty junk, it was hard to keep it from fowling without the trailer hook. If it was a little more open, trailer hook for sure.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Sometimes the fish will hit a topwater with its mouth closed to try and kill the bait first.

So be honest.

Did the fish miss it or did you jerk it away from her? grin

The only buzz bait I will throw in the junk is the D&M Buzz Saw. In-line blade, free swinging 5/0 EWG hook so you can rig it weedless.

So two requests for total honesty...I am a fisherman!

I really don't think I pulled it away from her but it was fairly close to the boat when she blew up and I almost messed myself. It was probably the most violent buzz bait bite I have ever had. I had just caught 4-5 lb fish about 5 min earlier and was a little amped up from that.

We fished Monti until about 2:00 and caught plenty of fish but we got hungry! Stopped at what looked like a new bbq joint between the two lakes and had a great meal and then went to Sandlin. I had been on Sandlin once about 20 years ago and my partner never had been. We found a few fish junk fishing and fishing by the seat of our pants which is what we do best.

Caught more fish on Monticello but bigger fish on Sandlin. It was just one of those great days we don't get that often. Great fishing, great food, great company, and a whole day to fish without distraction!

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Thats a pretty honest answer! Like many others, the more violent the strike, the quicker I wanna jerk! That's not always the best option. Sounds like you guys had a great day in spite of missing the new giant fish on the buzz bait.

Thats what its all about anyway. thumb
