I picked up a pack of yum money hounds and wanted to stick a rattle in them but the bottom is split open to allow for the hook, how and where would be a good place for the rattle? I'm thinking put the rattle in the front so I don't risk affecting the action of the lure

I would use one of those rattle collars that are traditionally used on jigs. I'd place the rattle collar on the hook after you first go through the money hound's nose with the hook; then place the rattle collar on the hook; then texas rig the hook back into the money hound. This would put a little additional weight toward the middle/rear of the money hound, which would help the money hound sit a more tail down in the water. Use a 7/0 wide gap hook for the money hound.
