I just started working in Waco. I'm interested in fishing Waco lake and I'll probably fish it in the next couple of weeks in my spare time. What are your guys thoughts in the lake? What about the Brazos? Does anyone bass fish on this part of the Brazos!? I have fished it around granbury.. But like I said. New part of Texas for me. I'm used to DFW lakes!

I have fished Waco about 6 times this year, and all I can say is the 1-2 lbers love some white bomber cranks with orange eyes (7A is model i believe). I haven't personally run in to any toads, but have seen some guys catch em on senkos, jigging channels in about 20'.

Also, spoons and cranks on the bubbles near the dam can make for a great day of catchin sandies. We caught about 50 one day.

Best of luck.

Lake waco is a pretty good lake but it gets lots of pressure. The brazos has been putting out really good sacks this year but it's always tough for me. Tradinghouse has a ton of fish in it but got hammered this year since its was the only lake open but it will come back next spring.

Whitney, limestone, belton and stillhouse are also good and not too far away

The old man tourney that was the first Thur of the month had a winning bad of 20lb. I don't know what Wed. night tourney did this week.
Lake Waco can be feast or famine. When I first moved here I started at midway ramp and fished the shore line all the way around the whole lake. It took me about two months to do it but I learn the lake and found some good spots in the process.
Yes there is a lot of people that fish the river. You can go up to the back of the Waco dam on the Bosque from Brazos park east ramp. You can go down the Brazos to the low water dam or up river until it get shallow. I bass fished it yesterday but the fishing was tuff. One of my friends kill them Wed. a 4lb and 5lb with a bunch of 2 to 3lbs.
Welcome to Waco!!!

Well....a big 9, a few 8's a few 5 or 6's, and a bunch of 3's were weighed in today. Slow and steady (me with a sack of 3's) didn't even get in the money. That lake is awesome though.

I went to high school and college in Waco. I spent many many years on that lake in a jet boat. Never fished it till today.

I caught 5 keepers by 8 am. Culled all day. I thought the lake was full of only 2-1/2 to 3 pound bass till weigh in. The guys that caught big fish didn't catch five. They didn't cull. They went big. And it showed. I think right under 20 lbs won, 18 or so took 2nd.

Great little lake. I caught all of my fish in the first cove under lake shore drive bridge flipping Biffle bugs at very shallow cover. Never needed to go anywhere else. Or so I thought. Haha

Nice! I would love to be culling my 8am even if it doesn't get me in the money! Sure would be a heck of a time to catch 3lbers all day! Although a big one would be nice!

pick one of the rivers and after a few trips you'll find out what works best for you. The main lake point (lacy) is a great spot but community hole, especially this time of year. I like fishing the dam/airport park area. Fish love love love cranks on waco, cant go wrong. Welcome cheers
