Heres mine...

Fished a small club tourney today and fished solo, which means I had to keep my fish in the livewell and weigh them in front of another competitor for confirmation. (we weigh at the boat and return right away)

So I find a guy and I...

Weigh, confirm, release and write down the weight of fish number 1

Weigh, confirm, release and write down the weight of fish number 2

Weigh, confirm, release and write down the weight of fish number 3

Weigh, confirm, release and forget to write down the weight of fish number 4 which was my big fish

I ended up losing the tourney by 13oz and big fish by 1oz.

WHAT A MORON!

Tried to boat flip a 7lber and the line popped. I know she was a 7lber because I caught her the next morning and got my hook back.

The dumbest thing I did is not join a tournament years ago at Bob Sandlin, they asked me if I wanted to enter at the ramp but I was alone and never fished the lake so I declined. Caught my limit in less than an hour and started culling. Ended up with a heavy stringer.......larger than the one that won the bass boat.... hammer

Fishing Bass Champs years ago and some how miss measured our smallest fish. Worked 3 hours trying to cull it and couldn't. As it turned out we didn't even need that fish to begin with. Had 4 others over 6 lbs. each but got a DQ when it was measured at the scales.

Caught fish #1, about a 4 pounder, before daylight. Put a numbered cull ring on it and threw it in the box. Later that morning, after catching and weighing fish #3, I realized I couldn't find cull ring #3 but that #1 was still in the compartment.

I looked and sure enough I had put #3 on the 4 pounder I caught in the dark. I pulled the fish out of the live well to switch the cull rings. After I unhooked it... it flopped, hit the seat, and went over the side and back into the lake. I sat there for a couple of minutes, in shock over how stupid I was.

A few years back I was heading to Lake Calcasieu in my bay boat. On the way down, we decided to spend the night on Sam Rayburn and fish the Bass Champs Dodge big fish tournament. The next morning we were running late and didn't get on the water until right before the first hour weigh-in. I ran to a cove about 5 minutes from the pavilion and started fishing. My first bite after about 15 minutes was a good one - almost 8 pounds. I put it in the livewell and started heading back.

Right as we were about to clear the cove, I shut the engine down and looked at Elizabeth. I said, "We just lost a truck." I was in coastal fishing mode and didn't pull out the PFDs. We hadn't had our life jackets on since we launched.

I went ahead an took the fish to the weigh-in and explained that we couldn't enter it, but just wanted to know how we would have done. Sure enough, it beat that hour by more than half a pound.

The dumbest thing I have ever done in a tournament cost me a truck.

Second dumbest was fishing a tournament when there was a tornado on Eagle Mountain.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Came in with 6 fish once. Got on schooling fish late and partner and I misculled. Had it won till then.

Another time I misread rules and thought I had to heck in by 3:00 but rules were I had to be in weigh in line by 3:00. That one hurt a bit money wise.

OUCHHH! Some bad ones on here.

I was pretty butthurt over the situation for a little while then realized Hackney got his entire sack DQd and bumped him back in the AOY standings. A little club tourney is nothing.

Several years ago, we were fishing a big bass tournament / tournament at grapevine and we (my partner and I) he goes by the name michael green... Well I was getting my boat ready, hand him my share of both entry fees and he gives me money back saying we are entered into both tournaments... I failed to check this out myself...

Well I stick one right at 8 pounds and we take it to the scales. Well the Scott Gordon allows us to weigh the fish and both scott and I were under the impression that michael green had registered us in both tournaments... WRONG!!!!!! We were only entered in the regular tournament... We would have won lots of other money had I verified that we were indeed registered in both tournaments. bang
Lesson always verify when in doubt

Not sure if we would have won, it was a small club tourney and I was getting blow up after blow up on a yellow magic. Just couldn't get one hooked up. Finally realized I had the red rubber sleeves still on the hooks. Weighed in one fish that day.
