Long story how I broke my Lew reel. Had no issues with it. And I'm a Ugly Stick person. (for now) Just looking for a good value pole and reel combo. I'm going tomorrow to look at Academy or Cabalas. I guess. If there's any other good deals out there could you chime in. Thanks.

I'd say the Ugly Stick is around $40.00 so a reel I'd go around $100.00ish. I'd say my price range is $100-175ish.

The Academy Mettle is a great reel for 59.00 normal price. They also have the blue H2O rods at around that same price I think. That combo is very good for the money you're spending.

There are good setups for that price range at al the stores. Lews combos, H2O, Cabelas setups, and Johnny Morris. Find one that feels right for your style (and wallet)

Watching... I personally am leaning towards a Curado or mettle, but I am a beginner and am also in question.. If I could ask, what specific rod(brand, model, length, width) would be good to pitch and cast a wacky rig(with one of those reels) and also switch to a chatter bait or spinner bait..?? Am I taking this way too far and trying to get an all in one setup that isn't realistic or is there a decent rod and reel that is great for numerous presentations/lures like Im asking? I personally like all star rods so far since I caught 2-7.5-8lbers now(manual spring scale, fish might have been bigger :)) on my 6.5' all star spinning setup.. Sorry if I interrupted this post, however I think this forum is awesome!! Thanks to ALL of y'all who share your info and opinions. This forum has helped me tremendously as a beginner for sure!

^^ Agreed, I usually use 7 plus Ugly Sticks. I got a Lew reel. was pleased with it. I just made a mistake and broke it all. I too want a all around bass rod and reel combo. I would like to go tomorrow and pick up my new rod and reel. Cause fish got to be bitting this weeked. Plus my boy and I go fishing EVERY Sunday rain or shine we are catching. fish

Ebay.

Really good deals and typically quick free shipping.

Just bought two more Revo SXs for $110 each shipped to my door in 2 days.
