I sure like the new Winn grips on the new Lews Rods, but I have so many rods I don't need any more.

I was thinking about using some Winn wrap on the handles on some older carbonlite split grips, which have got really hard.

Anybody used this, wonder how many inches it take to wrap a handle. I guess I could measure the dia and figure it out but figured someone had done it. I would guess 24 to 30 inches.

I may call Winn tomorrow and find out if they furnish the finishing tape that help hold the ends together to keep them from coming off at the ends. I watched a youtube video they had tape for the top and bottoms. it looks easy to do.

I may order enough to do one or two rods and see how I like it. Then knowing me I will go buy a pile of new rods with
Winn grips !!!

Thanks, Billy

I picked a small roll up at the Classic Expo at the Winn booth. I had an older split grip Rod I love that the EVA grip was getting slick so I wrapped it up and have fished with it all spring. Easy to do and they do provide some tape - also can use other tape to finish.

Good product- let me know if you want pics of the finished product - I did both a casting and spinning Rod - just the handle part of the split grips

Scott,

When you say they provide other tape, is that the finishing tape I recall from the Youtube Video. If it is how much to they provide and how many rods can you do with the small roll which I think it is 44 inches. I think the long one is 96 ish.

thanks Billy

Thanks, Billy

I have been using the RodWrap grip tape for several years. A large size wrap will do 2-3 split grip rods. Just buy a 10 pack of their finishing tape sold separately. I tend to color code my different rods, flipping, cranking etc so I can ID them quicker in the rod box. Their tape lasts about a year before oils from your hands absorbs into the tape.
