Are the Walmart 3/8 ounce Rooster Tails sold for $2.66 the same as those sold at Bass Pro and Dick's for over a dollar more? The Yakima packaging looks the same.
I picked up a couple dozen from BP this spring when they were buy one, get one free. I picked up half a dozen today at Walmart, and they do not spin well at almost any speed.
Are some made in USA at higher cost, some from Mexico or China for discounted cost?
Frustrating to waste casts with spinners that do not spin.

Put a small bend in the middle of the blade.

Glad there is someone else using Rooster Tails.
Best bait going for producing numbers of fish. I always have one tied on.
Not much invested, easy to throw away if fish bend the heck out of it.

When I do not feel the blade spinning, I pause retrieve giving a couple inches of slack, then a quick hard snap with rod. That usually gets the blade spinning.

I prefer Mepps. Been using them since I was a kid. Cost a bit more than the store knockoff but worth it. Same with just about anything else, the store brand is okay but the 'name brand' is generally better overall.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

I've never caught anything but white bass on those things.

I have used Mepps since I sold garden vegetables to earn the $.89 that a #2 squirrel tail cost back then. I have been using 3/8 oz Rooster Tails lately to reach deeper water for bigger sandies. I have tried putting a small bend and even cracked the finish on the spinner in the Wal Mart product without much success. Yes, I often change speeds or direction when the spinner stops. Seems like I just bought some duds. I also have some old 1/2 oz that I cannot spin.
Side note--today I hooked a catfish on a 1/4 oz that I fought on ultra lite for over 15 minutes before dragging him to shore that I estimated weighed over 20 lbs on a Bass Pro model. That was a rush.
