So a friend and I have planned to be on Fork for the next week. There has been many hours of anticipation, planning, and excitement- we see the forecast. Looks like 7 days of straight rain. Though there is the old phrase, "the fish are already wet," I am a bit skeptical about what to do or how to approach the situation. So my question is this-

How would you approach the week of fishing? What advice might you have that you have seen be successful in the past? Not looking for honey holes or secret spots... just some advice or techniques you have used and been successful with in the past.

Thanks in advance guys and gals!

I like to fish in the rain. It opens the door for the use of some baits to work later into the day instead of having to put them down because the sun comes up. Some of my best days have come in the rain. Also, most fishermen will stay home leaving less pressure and more room. Before I go out I will always make sure my bilge pump is in good working order. The only thing that stops me from rainy days is lightning.

Fishingking- That has been my thoughts precisely. Only concern is I don't know how to approach a lake that I rarely fish, furthermore, what baits I should be throwing to catch MAMA's attention. Considering buzzbaits with triple blades, spinnerbaits, swim baits of sorts with lots of rattles in the hard plastics. Thoughts?

On a rainy day I like to throw a spook, buzzbait, spinnerbait, rage tail shad, or yellow magic.

When that doesn't work, I switch to a jig or soft plastic and just pretend it isn't raining.

The warm rain and wind forecasted Monday/Tuesday should be good. With high temps in the 70s and overnight lows in the sixties, the added warm runoff into the lakes could be really good.

It's that cold front coming in on Wednesday afternoon to Saturday morning, that might have the activity slowing down.

I don't usually worry too much about a little rain. I worry about a lot of rain. There are few things worse than fishing cold muddy water early in the year. If the rain totals are substantial enough to get run off I'll usually throw something like a swimbait practically upon on shore.

Positive side is the lake won't be quite as packed as normal.

Good rain suit, waterproof shoes, dry box, and if you don't know where your going then slow down and idle in the coves and creeks. If you hear thunder then you better believe there is lightening nearby.

Not so much concerned about the weather, more concerned about what seems to be productive in the bait category with rain coming... Water proof shoes, dry box and bag, rain suit, and paintball mask all purchased. Now the nitty gritty- what have yall seen to be the good things to use in the rain as I am usually incorrect in my assumptions...

Thanks for all the advice so far! Gonna continue to build on my knowledge from what yall have to offer!
