Just got a 27 fury installed after getting rid of a 25 tempest. Tempest topped out ar 60mph. Didn't see any improvement in the fury. It topped out at 61.2mph at 6000rpm.any ideas? Or are these Hawks just heavier and slower?

Something seems odd - most 250's will not spin the 27 Fury 6000 rpms on a 20-21 ft bass boat.

That's a lot of slip for the Fury. Maybe try to drop the engine 1/2 an inch and re-try? Furys like to be lower than the Tempest. Expect Holeshot to suffer, lift to improve, speed should do better also.

Something is not right. Time to start playing with the jackplate.

Seems like that's a lot of prop for a 225?

I used to run a Fury 25 on my 225 Opti.

Going to go through everything tomorrow. Starting with the jackplate. I adjusted it numerous times today. Going to set it at 3.5" the start fine tuning. Will probably try a 25 fury end of this week. Love the setup just not happy with the speed. If I can get the tempest to work I think I will have a better judge on the prop since I didn't have much time to play with it

61mph w/a 27p @ 6000rpm? You are correct that something is way off. IF the tach is accurate your prop is slipping.

Pretty sure something is way wrong, from your signature pic you took the Merc off the boat....that's probably it.....but I'd call Steve @ Steve's props and he'll know immediately what's up..... sarcastic

Thanks for the help. I'll be switching thus prop and trying a 25 fury. Checked the jackplate today and the shift was 3.5" below the hull. If anybody had any suggestions I'm all ears

Swing by the shop and have them plug your motor in. Make sure it has been up to 6k rpm so we know that the tach is correct. Assuming this is a new engine?

I'll definitely do that. Probably will be the end of the week. I'll post my findings.
