I'm a catfish fisherman from Lewisville...I'm headed to Ray Roberts soon for some bass fishing with a buddy from Carolina. Which part of the lake should I take him and what are y'all fishing with? We like to Carolina and Texas rig. Should we target some of the old flooded ponds, weed beds, somebody please point me in the right direction so I can show him a good time Texas sized!

I've fished it hard since it opened. Go take him somewhere else if you want to catch fish. I don't even start fishing RR till April. It's brutal. If the water temp gets above 57 to 58 the fishing will start improving, but don't let any of these so called professionals on here try and tell you any different, you are waisting your time. RR is a deep lake, its the last lake to turn on in North Texas. As of last Saturday Buck Creek was still closed and still muddy along with anything up around isle dubois up near 922 was real muddy, Indian Creek and Wolf are starting to clear up finally.

Your going to one of the hardest cold water lakes in Texas to fish, but to answer your questions secondary points jerkbaits and A-rigs is the only 2 baits I would throw and mix in a deep crankbait. Good luck.

Take him to Lake Welsh. Go south and look for grass. When you find it throw a wake bait over the top of it and hold on. Enjoy...

For Roberts, fish the west side. Buck creek is good as are many of the creeks. I agree with DW, but there will be people telling you they are on them. I have not had the cold water success on Roberts. Lewisville is tough also, but I can usually find a bite or 2. If you get a guide, you may do well
