What length spinning rod you use for skipping docks with shay heads? I've been using a 7' but wondering if I could get away with a 6'6". Something to use in tight quarters.
Thanks,

I like 7 ft for most applications but for skipping docks I also like that 6'6.

Any type of skipping I use short rods in general. Spinning or casting. Also make sure you have a decent soft tip. It helps "whipping" the bait

6'6 St. Croix Legend Tournament Series Spinning rod is a great rod for skipping docks. Super light and super strong for pulling those fish out from underneath the docks

I've always used 7'0 rods skipping docks. But after watching Linders Fishing Edge I'm going to try a 6'0 or shorter. What they said makes since. I keep beating my rod up against the trolling motor or side of the boat. Shorter rod made better control.

I use a 6' 8" Shimano Compre, works pretty well.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I went away from my 7 footer exactly for that. Went to a 6'8" and that works better for me.

I have three spinning rods for skipping docks, they are 6'0", 6'6" and 6'9". I've tried 7' + rods and they are too long for me.
