ok she has a spinning reel and can throw it ok, but i need her to start throwing a baitcaster with baits like flukes, topwaters, c-rigs/t-rigs, moving baits cause her drop shotting is kicking my arse, i need to slow her down from catching all the fish lol.

no seriously though want to get her to learn how to throw a baitcaster so wanna know which one is easiest or easy to throw.

Thanks for all responses.

I would also start her out casting side arm rather than overhead to begin with. Sometimes it is easier to learn that way.
Spool the reel with 12-15# test mono and don't over fill the reel. A spinner bait is a good bait to tie on while learning to cast.

Either of these reels would be a good choice and they are around $100 price point.

Check out my post " your best casting baitcaster" on the bottom of 2nd page. This should help you too. Really depends on how much money you want to spend.

I taught a fifty year old to use one. I wish now while I had her in the learning mood I would have taped her arm to her side where she would have had to learn casting with her wrist. She still likes to cast and not use the wrist . Makes it hard to get any distance .

yep. That would be true love.

Haha.

For real though...fill the spool with mono and cast it hard. Then peel off around 20ft more. Place a piece of scotch tape on the spool and wind in the line. The tape will keep any over run from becoming a spaghetti bowl and it will allow her to practice casting without worrying about the spool speed so much.

My spouse likes her H2O, but seems to always end up with one of my Revo's or my exo.

If she's going to be serious about fishing, then teach her to use one like you already have and will continue to use. There's absolutely no sense in having "his" and "hers" setups in the boat. There are no major difference in reels nowadays as far as casting difficulty. As long as you tighten the brakes down, she can't screw up. Teach her about the reel and what the brakes are. As she gains confidence with the reel with the brakes tight, let her loosen them off.

Again, if she's gonna be serious about fishing, and gonna be in the boat with you the majority of the time, there's no reason to have reels for her that you won't use and reels for you that she can't use. We use all Revos. They are good quality and are small enough to fit a woman's hand.

Just get her either of the ones I suggested and you will make her happy. You will like them enough to get yourself some also.

What about this one? It's cheap but it's certainly quality! I've used one before and if you told me it was only $90, I would've told said you're crazy. It's not too heavy and it has a good drag system. It's an awesome little reel and for the price you won't find a better reel. Great starter reel!

Honestly Jeff... I think as long as the tension knobs and brakes are set correctly, you should be able to use just about any decent reel. With that being said, I personally like the Curado I or Chronarch better than any of the other reels I've used in terms of being able to switch up baits without having to change much on the control knobs. I have not moved the brake control all year long on either of these reels, and I've thrown everything from weightless worms to A-Rigs.

My wife learned using my Amb 5000's and 5500's and when I upgraded to the Revo's she did well with those too so I set her up with 3 of her own. We recently took a trip to Gran Lake with my daughter, fianc and future in-laws and daughter fished with us and I had her using my Revo's within about 30 minutes. Any top quality baitcaster you are comfortable with is easy to teach someone else to use.

I've taught my wife and 2 of my 3 kids to throw a baitcaster using Core's. I tried less expensive models before handing over the expensive stuff. At the end of the day I pick less backlashes, get less aggreavated and they have more fun.
