This time of year I look for the bait first. I don't know much about Amistad this time of year, but I almost always look for the bait in the Fall anywhere I go.

They are going to be in the thickest cover you can find. Slow way down on your presentations. You will find the bigger Bass in the deepest cover you can find. Bass do not want to move any farther than they have to to find the food source. As they move along their route to shallow water during the Winter they hold on their ambush spots for longer periods of time hoping to get the right meal and not have to go the whole route to the shallows.

Big flats leading to deep water with the right cover in 15 ft. of water has been my best areas in the Winter months. Fish lots of islands close to the river channel. Do lots of driving around them with the side scan looking for those that have cover to provide these ambush spots. Keeping your boat in 25 ft. of water and scanning toward the shallows will help you to find the irregular features holding the Bass.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.
