Just finishing up putting new carpet in my boat and I have $350 in material I don't see how they can make it only charging 1000 to do it its not hard just time consuming. It only took me 2.5 days but I will probably pay the extra $800 next time.

My shop has it down to a science. It's the tear down and rivets and carpet removal that's the pain in the butt.

Carpet replacement jobs are market bear, or what you will pay in most cases. They are way under charged forin actual labor used. We have three (3) staffers that recarpet BCB models in their outside shops, they hate recarpets as they can't charge enough for the job and customers still want them redone. Disassembly, Stripping, cleaning and replacing everything is time consuming.

We are making a similar post on trailers though most charge or don't get trailers rebuilt. Carpet is just a different animal and people tackle it for a few bucks.

Not at my house lol. There's a place on fork that does good work I called to get a price and when he told me what it was goin to cost I told him I'd do it myself. And actually ended up buying my carpet from him to install myself. I bought carpet from him cheaper than I could get it anywhere else.

I do flooring for a living. And I hated doing mine. It cost me 500 I think I would've fathered paid the 1000. But I did do better then my local shop. The carpet guys get a way better deal on carpet then you think. That said. There still not making a killing. Takes 2 guys but couple days.
