I love to throw the smaller 2 hook baits like a Pointer 65 and sometimes the 78 on spinning gear. You can have a blast with the smallmouth at certain times of the year on Texoma with a small jerkbait, small topwater like a Sammy 65 or the small Yellow Magic, and some of them will be quality fish. I use baitcasting gear for the larger baits now like the Pointer 100 or Vision 110. Lots of fun on the spinning gear though...you should give it a try.

I think for me it's probably easier to work the bait on a spinning rod. If you get tired you can switch over to casting and rest what you were using with the spinner.
