What brand of culling clips work best (doesn't come off of fish) that doesn't injure fish lower jaw have you found that is reliable? I prefer not to use the type that you have to punch a hole through the skin of the lower jaw. Some of the conservation type clips work loose in the livewell. Thx

The type that punch a hole doesn't have to be used that way. I use that kind and just slide the clip under the corner of the gill opening and it's big enough to close around the lip. No holes, no problem.

I used a conservation culling clip at Tabke Rock this year. It cost me $30,000. Lol. When grabbing my catch from the live well, I've always grabbed me by the clip. As usual, I grabbed a 4 pounder by the clip and the clip broke right as I lifted it from the live well. It flopped right off the back of the boat and back into the water. That was day one. On day three I fought my way back and finished in 4th. I was out of first, and a new Nitro Z18, by less than 3 pounds. Losing that fish via a broken cull clip sucked. Now, I punch the hole. I figure two holes in a bass is ok for me.

Any culling "clip" I have seen would be better suited for crappie, but not anything over a pound

I have always slipped the metal wire through the bottom of the gill plate opening back through the mouth to keep from poking a new hole. I've noticed lots of irritation to the areas the metal wire contacts. No idea which is more harmful, or if it even makes a difference. Just reporting what I have seen.

I use these bags:

They work very well and really help keep the fish calm. I have not lost a fish yet even in the heat of the summer.

My partner Chris owns ProCull products and he has a conservation line of cull rings that are great. Here's a link

Seen Carl Jocumsen using them on bassmaster LIVE at guntersville this year, plastic clamp with a nylon rope tether attached in different colors. Berkley used to make smaller version they sold with a culling scale but I've never found the bigger ones I've seen BASS and FLW guys use, have no idea where they get them, anyone have a lead?
