Bacarrac, Picachos, Comedero....Anybody here fished one of these lakes lately?
Trying to pick one for a winter or spring trip.

Not really interested in El Salto, I prefer the ones I named.

I have not. Dec. will be a great month for all of them though as they get cranked up for the season. Comedero would be my choice as it has been resting for quite a while. I believe you will see some record fish out of there in Dec. and Jan.

If you ever get 10 days off and want to drive in with me for 6 days of fishing for the same kind of money let me know. My lake of choice is Oviachic. I have never had a bad trip there in 27 years of fishing it.

What about Sugar Lake? It has some good fishing and closer to the Texas border if you drive to the lake...

Not lately, but I have experience at two and headed to Comodero in a couple of months. Bacarrac can be really good and can be slow, just like almost any lake. One of my best trips to date has been down there. I would tell you Picachos is the exception to the rule... I don't know if anyone has ever had an off trip. I've been multiple times and we always wear them out. That being said, you will catch smaller fish at Picachos but that will gradually change over the coming years.

Comodero will be interesting. It's been relatively closed to the main stream masses and test fishing down there was bonkers for big fish.

You know how that goes though.... Time will tell if it's still the lake it used to be.

I'm guessing Sugar isn't that close of a drive from Cali but that is another lake that deserves mention. My friend goes occasionally and almost always has a good or great trip.

Being the end of the rainy season I'm not sure how much recent information you're going to get but that will be changing soon.

Just remember Mexico spring is different than American Spring. I went to picachos the first week in Feb. last year and the fish were in post spawn. we caught tons of fish 75-100 a day per fisherman all between 2-4 lbs

Hire Tommy Law, I went in Sept and it's every bit as good or better than you'd ever imagine! PM me and I'll give you details and expenses to look for.

We are whacking nice fish at Baccarac and Salto over the last few days. A 200+ fish day at Baccarac yesterday (one boat)

Salto blowing up now also. Water level at 98% this morning, and they just started pulling water. Stand by for the sickness...

Best,
dk
