Started fishing a heavier drop shot geared towards flipping brush and docks. Using a 7ft MH casting rod with a weedless rigged worm. My questions is when would you throw this over a texas rig and vice versa?

Heavy drop shot on braid--deep grass, calmer conditions; thick grass edges, when they want it really slow. I don't fish efficiently with a heavy drop shot around thicker wood and pads (line to weight getting tangled in pad stems and small branches)

Texas rig--wood, windier conditions, middle of lily pads, when they want it moving more.

Only when it is easier to get the Tx. rig into an area you are fishing. If the drop shot gets tangled up too much because of the cover, then I would switch to the Tx. rig. I fish a heavy drop shot rig also.
