Won't be home from college until Thanksgiving. Monticello has been my favorite lake for the past 6-7 years. Just wondering what yall think the water temp will be by then considering the power plant not running much if at all. Trying to plan out the week if i should give it a shot or drive to welsh and squaw.

I went out yesterday was in the mid to upper 70's everywhere I went. The only thing is that they are not generating as much, thanks to Obamas war on the coal industry, so it may get colder faster this year

There is some pretty cold weather headed in next week and if that stays and we don't warm back up at all, the temps will drop fast. I fish out there quite a bit and last November was maybe the worst month I've ever had on the lake. I even posted on here last November after 2 straight weeks of the same thing that for those thinking about fishing it over Thanksgiving to not bother. So after 10+ posts accusing me of just saying that so I could have the place to myself I stopped trying to help people.

Water temps were 100+ just 6 weeks ago....if they drop into the low 60's or 50's next week, it should make the fishing REALLY bad again until the fish have a chance to adjust which last year took a couple of months.

now if they start generating again, then it could change everything.

Yes Chris I remember the weather well last November. I had a big trip planned the 1st week of November. We had a warm October and water temperatures were 70 and then the 1st couple weeks of November we had extended cold weather and by the 15th-20th of November the water had dropped 15 degrees. I'm referring to Fork on the above numbers. Really threw the fish for a loop and if Monticello is not generating it might do the same there.

Water was 85 at the discharge yesterday. Blundell and Smith were 75-77. I never went to the dam.

I like that 85 and mid-upper 70's still. Good cold front next week but hopefully it will moderate again and stay somewhat warm.

Even if it gets cold, like really cold this winter, it should still be sweet. I hit it last February and we destroyed em. Only fished for 2 hours and had a 27lb limit. Water temps were in the low 50s and it was snowing/raining. They just need time to adjust. Any sudden change anywhere effects the fish. As long as it's relatively stable, should be game on out there. It's a special lake.

I was there Thursday before the rains came, found the same temps as OP, but I didn't go to the outlet.. I did go to the dam hooked on my last stop, it was 73' there. The plant had sandy brown smoke coming out of 2 stacks, the short ones and it was real loud around there, it was a fair amount of smoke justsay'n.
I didn't see any coal trains, big piles of coal were still there.
