Athens had dropped considerably in the past 2 months,,,,,3 feet lower than where it had been, probably 2ft below full pool. Checked at 6pm this evening and it is back to full pool with all this rain. 2 boats coming in from fishing and both parties said they had a good day of catching fish. I will find out in the morning,,,, should be some good new flooded grass along the shorelines.

I heard we got 18-21 inches but I personally did not see a gauge Athens lake is full though that's for sure.

Lake Athens is remarkably stable, even with a record setting 2015 wet spring, then this big shot of rain a few days ago.
The data are different in two locations where it is available but I don't think it ever exceeded 441.5 to 442', so only a couple of feet above its conservation level. Lake Athens is the highest lake in the Neches River Basin, so this makes sense. Lake Palestine is a 100 feet lower, then in the Trinity River Basin, Richland Chambers is well over 100 feet lower and so is Cedar Creek. I'd suppose those lower lakes catch more watershed proportionate to their sizes.
More rain coming last I looked!
