Hey everyone, it seems to me that there are lots of type of A-rigs and rods labeled with fast tapers and moderate tapers. While I don't use A-rigs alot, I do have a small one. It is the flash mob jr by Yum. My question is, why do some rods made specifically for alabama rigs have fast tapers while others have moderate tapers? Being that I dont fish my alabama rig a whole lot, I really do not know what would work best. I have never caught a fish on it. I have an older TFO extra heavy rod that does not say its taper on the rod, but the tip of the rod does not feel so stiff so I imagine it is a moderate taper. Then I have a micro magic pro in 7'3" MH that the tip feels alot more stiff. While Duckett does not label the tapers on their rods, I would say it feels like a fast taper. I would like to know which rod would work best for throwing my A-rig. By the way, the TFO is a 7'6" rod. Thanks.

Both of your rods will work just fine. Like you say your not going to throw it that much, until you catch a double hook up on it of twin 4 pounders. Then you will like the rod you were using.

So a moderate taper and/or a fast taper will work good for A - rigs? I'm guessing it's just personal preference then?
