Would you rather fished stained or clear water? I prefer somewhat stained to dirty water myself if I had to pick between the two. Thoughts?

As a bank fisherman I prefer stained water. I can't see the fish and they (hopefully) can't see me. However, I'm not a fan of chocolate milk!

Clear water.
Better chance of a topwater bite. With clear water, the bass can see the lure from far away. At times in clear water, you'll see a wake from the bass rushing from 30ft away to strike your topwater--lots of fun.
Clear water (improved light penetration) also promotes hydrilla and other vegetation growth as deep as 25-30ft. If topwaters are my favorite way to fish, fishing deep grass edges might be second.

Crystal clear. I learned to bass fish in water with 8'+ clarity, I love it.

Not too clear and not too muddy, but in between for me. Unless I'm fishing deep stuff then I want clearer water.
