With zoom flukes a regular 5/0 works just fine but the big bite flukes are a little thicker. They also sink slower and have more side to side action. The only problem is I miss alot of fish. I had a freaking monster at the boat Friday. She was barely hooked and when I went to grab her she came off. I actually had my hand on her when she came unhooked. I've tried a few different hooks and none of them seem to be the same as a 5/0 but I miss too many fish.

I like the 6/0 and 7/0 on flukes, even zoom. You might try the Trokar or Owner 7/0 extra wide gap. Bend the hook to where the hook point is about 1/8" above the line tie. This drastically helps with hook-ups.

I have been using these in the 6/0. They line up nice with slot and increase number of fish per bait. Owner light wire twistlock

Big bite has 2 soft Jerk baits. The Triple Tail Jerk Minnow is softer with better action than the standard Jerk Minnow. Find them, you won't be disappointed. Rig on an Owner J Hook. 5/0 Open it up a couple of degrees. Just enough that it lays in line with the back of the bait. Not pointing into the bait. Drastically increases hook up percentage Owner J Hook. I use Owner Wide Gap Plus 5/0 on heavy line in tight cover. Open it up a bit as well.

Haha no I have a net but unless it's a tournament the net stays in the garage. Half the fish that grab it never get the hook. On a zoom fluke I may miss 1 out of 10 But when they want a big bite it seems like they won't even smell a zoom.
