I bought one a few weeks ago and absolutely love it, super lite with lots of power. I've heard good things about the rods as well. Would you match it with the rod to make the lightest setup I've ever held? Are there any negatives to a light rod?

I have them and like them but they are not the lightest that I have.

Which one? I've had carbon blacks and right now I throw a Crig on a carbonlite and I'll admit the carbonlite combo is pretty sick. I've got a lot of really nice setups but for the money, I don't think you can beat the Johnny Carbonlite setup.

Off the top of my head, Revo Premier, Revo MGX, Lews Tournament pro and Lews Team, quite a few of the uber priced Diawa's.

wow I had no clue, some of those are 2 and 3 oz less. That's incredible. I'm not serious enough to spend 400+ on a reel though. I can dream.

Yup. I have nothing but premiers and lews tourney pro's and I bought a Carbonlite combo on a whim and it's the best reel I've ever felt for 130 bucks.

If you wait around a bit, BPS puts them on sale all the time for 100 bucks. Feeling it in the store it feels rough but that's only because it's a lightweight reel. Get some line on it and it's smooth as butter and feels great.

I purchased the carbonlite combo at the beginning of the year. The reel is light and is why I use it for my spinnerbait/ jerk bait applications but the rod is junk in my opinion. It broke on me after 3 months of using it. If your going spend $130 on a carbon lite rod, might as well spend $20 more and get you a Duckett.

Don`t use one in the rain , it`ll be done for . Got one that I can`t get the drag to back off of now . The only place you can get work done on them is at BPS . That`s a little bit of a pain if you don`t live close to one . Was told BPS wouldn`t supply parts to other tackle stores or a repair shops . FYI

I have 2 os the Johnny Morris carbon reels and I love them. My wife accidentally dropped my rod overboard and with the cork handle on the rod and the carbon lite reel on it the dang thing floated and did not sink. I was amazed.

I have one of the older BPS Johnny Morris Signature reels. I have supertuned it and it works very well. It's identical to the Browning Midas reel other than the exterior finish. I believe that BPS gets Quantum to build both of these reels. The JM reel has the vapor deposited metallic finish; looks very nice when new, but not durable. It will corrode from beneath the finish if used in brackish water.

RT also repairs them and has zero problems getting parts for them. FYI
