don't be surprised if he demonstrates poor sportsmanship.

I was fishing our club tournament on Palestine Saturday morning. I was sitting on the submerged bridge in Highsaw when a guy in a 21 foot white Legend with gray and green trim...with a Power Pole on back...came running in, apparently from blastoff at the Villages.

He got on his trolling motor behind me, then started moving in closer and closer. He was casting about six feet off the front of my boat, but still I didn't say anything. Finally, when he got within 25 feet of me, I asked...

"Do you want to just get in the boat with me?"

He said, "No, but I wouldn't mind fishing under it."

He backed off a few feet, then in a little while here he came again. Keep in mind I was sitting on the south end of the bridge. He could have gone to the north end and we would have been fine, but he obviously wanted to fish where I was.

Just as it was on the tip of my tongue to tell him I wasn't past going to his weigh-in and telling the tournament director what a poor sport he was, he pulled up his trolling motor and took off.

I don't know how many times I've shown up at my planned starting spot to find someone sitting there. When that happens to me I realize it is part of fishing and move on, or at least I don't crowd the guy if I do decide to fish the area anyway. Apparently the guy in the Legend doesn't let someone sitting there get in his way.

BTW, he was fishing with a portly guy wearing a trenchcoat and a scarf in the back of the boat.

Actually, he did sort of look like that. But to give him credit, he didn't say anything. In fact he looked kind of embarrassed. Or maybe that's just how he looks when he's cold.

Just an educated guess, I suppose. He came running into Highwaw/Ledbetter from the north shortly after daylight, at the same time a bunch more boats were running down the lake from that direction. The only open ramp north of Highsaw/Ledgetter is the Villages, and I know the Weekend Series was taking off from the Villages that morning.

I forgot to mention...while the guy in the Legend was still there, another pair of guys that I think were theirs...in a Skeeter...idled by me so close that I could have jumped from my front deck into their boat. And I can't jump all that far any more.

Why they didn't go on the other side of Legend guy I don't know...there was only 50 yards of open water to get around him and under the bridge going that way.

I just looked at them and shook my head as they went by.

They were probably trying to intimidate you into leaving.

I thought so or I wouldn't have posted it. Maybe if enough guys figure out what inconsiderate jerks they appear to be when they do this kind of stuff some of them will quit doing it. Or not.

Maybe the guy who did it or someone who knows him will read it. I'm guessing someone on this forum knows who I am talking about.

No he doesn't. Most of the time his boat is being towed by another boat or his trolling motor. grin

And he's right. This stuff happens all the time. Nobody owns spots. If you want to keep people out, put a high fence up around 'your spot'. If it was so offensive, why not take a picture of the rig with his TX numbers, and report him to the TD if he was in fact in the BWS derby? Or even post it up here?

I swear the internet turns men in to blue haired ladies over trivial stuff like this. Comical.

IMHO.....Anyone who minimizes or condones these types of activities on the water (or criticizes anyone who takes issue with the same) is part of the problem and probably did not receive near as many "lack of respect" butt whuppins as a child.

all I was trying to say is handle it on the water and leave it there. Just my opinion though.

I wish I had a 21 foot Legend, way out of my budget though!
