Hey yall,

What's yall's opinions on spray attractants?

I was recently reading up alot on spray attractants and how its good to bring them along on your bass fishing trips.

Ive honestly never used it before. The only things in my tackle box that did have attractants are soft plastics (Berkeley, Gary Y., etc) that have pretty much salt infused in them (to give you that bit of extra time to set the hook while the bass is savoring it).

However, I read that a Bass' sense of smell is only around 10% as strong (compared to a catfish's). This is one of the reasons why I just didn't bother using it. Almost every bass that Ive caught was caught without attractant.

Ive read that its still good to spray down your lures with it since the scent will still catch the attention and even bring up the appetite of bass?

Whats yall opinions, suggestions, recommendations?

If it would multiply my success on future trips, I'll definitely consider it.

Thanks in advance

I used to swear by garlic spray, but have been out for some time now.

Attractants, are just a good sent cover for any plastic smell, your hands, gasoline on youself, ect..A small bottle will last forever, amd never hurts, and may provide just that lil diff. between getting bit or not...good luck

Don't know if it helps or not, but I figure it doesn't hurt. I have caught a few fish recently on a jig after spraying attractant. Probably just coincedence, and like most things in fishing, meant to catch fisherman, not fish. But I'll keep spraying, I need every possible advantage available

I like the megastrike paste as it stays on the baits longer, and it adheres to swimbaits pretty good! Only drawback is you have that [censored] on your fingers and hands and eventually your clothes and then in your mouth all day, stinky [censored] but I think it helps!

Has anyone heard of mixing old bay seasoning and oilve oil and then dipping your cranks or worms in it??? I saw Fish Fishburne doing this the other day on TV, but his show is so dingy you never know whats reals and whats not? Looked messy to me and I dont want to have oilve oil spots all over the place so I can slip and fall in the water, lol.

I use scents on my soft plastics for bass and my crappie jigs and I even spray minnows... Does it get me an advantage? I think so but I can't be sure, it's really something I started as a kid and I still do it today... Spike-it is what I use but there are hundreds of brands now days...

I haven;t ever seen a pro do it... If they did, then you know they would be pushing it for the main reason they won.

Velvick lubes his baits up all the time, he puts the stuff on paper plates and drags them through it. Not saying your wrong, just stating facts.

If it boosts your confidence, do it! I use them because it boosts mine some. I like to cover "my" scent from it just in case.

I use Kicken bass garlic . And I have noticed a difference when I use it and when I don't No on a personal note I SMOKE and I know that the smell on your hands gets transferred to what you touch. I dip my soft plastics and jigs in it . I keep a small bowel on the front of the boat .

I can honestly say that I have never used a spray attractant or anything of the sort, and haven't had trouble catching fish. I agree with the "it catches the fisherman, not the fish" saying. Not saying it doesn't work just never tried it. I like the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

I use it to cover up other smells on soft plastics or anything else that is not a reaction bait that fish bite without inspecting.

I like to use it just for the fact that it will at least cover up my smell...I dip snuff all day on the boat, so hopefully crawfish stank covers it up!
