Ok what is the big deal with these Chinese reels and rods? Are they any good or just hyped up?
See people talking about them on YouTube but have never known anyone that had one.

I bought one opened the box turned the handle and sent it back.

I got one of their Demon reels and loved it for about two months. Then I bought a couple more. After about the 3rd month they started destruction. One wouldn't hold the release down, one wouldn't cast more than a couple of feet, and the last one sounded like there was sand in the bearings. I think it had a lot to do with it being so fast that there was no torque. I finally sent them all back to KastKing for refunds.

But, I have one cheaper Kast King reel that has lasted 5 years and no problems.

You get what you pay for with reels. Stick to Shimano, Lew's, Abu, daiwa

I have a Centron spinning reel that is far superior in every way to my Shimano Sienna.

For the price, they are good. Better than similar priced reels.

You can't compare them to reels that cost two or three times as much. Come on.

I have 2 Speed Demons & 2 Assassins that I have hammered this year with zero issues. I did break them down & clean out the assembly gunk and lube/grease them properly. This was something that I saw repeated on some other forums. Not doing so leads to the "grinding" and poor performance a lot of people complain about. With that being said, do I think they will last as long as my Lew's or Shimano reels - of course not, at their given price point. But for the casual angler on a budget, they will be fine if they do the preventive maintenance.
