I have 2k to spend on a depth finder. Which one would you get and why?

The one you're comfortable with. If you're a lowrance user, and don't want to re-learn another brand, then get a Lowrance HDS graph. Same if you're a HB, Garmin, etc. None are really better than the other, they all show the same thing. It's all about how much you know about your graph's images, and how to interpret them.

Anymore these days, they are pretty much the same. Like DEFMP says, get the one your comfortable using, user friendly. For me its Lowrance.

I think Bass Pro has Garmin 9" units on sale for $599.00 each. You could grab two at that price and have one at the bow and at the console.

The only caveat is that if you have or plan to get a Ultrex, then the HB units can link to it and control the Ultrex. It's pretty nice to be anchored to a spot, get hung up, release the anchor, get unhung, and use the HB to go back to the exact spot where you were anchored.

Which ever you decide on go to BBG Marine website for the best price. No Taxes and free shipping. I got a 10" Bird for the console. Soon as I win the lottery I'm gonna get a 12" Solix for the console and move the 10" to the bow. Already got a Ultrex and if you win the lottery suggest you get one too.

I don't think I was clear. You can't do that using the map screen without a bird. I do think you have some functionality with the remote. You also need the bird and Lakemaster for follow the contour.

To help you spend your money we need more info on your current setup and what you're looking to get out the new $2K graph.

Im not sure how good the Birds are now, but the Birds of 4 years ago are just above trash in my opinion.
Garmins are much easier to set up from one type of lake to another.

Go look up images from Humminbird Helix 10 mega units if you are interested in Humminbird. That would be the type you would be looking at just under your price range in the Humminbird line. Not sure about the other brands. The price you see for the Humminbird will be everything that you need. I think some of the other brands you might have to buy some other accessories to go with the unit but not sure.
