If you were buying a rod dedicated for a 5XD/6XD style baits what would you buy? I'm looking for something very light so that probably means graphite only. I would also like to be able to throw a 10XD on rare occasions and I prefer a rod no longer than 7'6" as I just can't get used to an almost 8' rod.

Would prefer $250 or under but am open to anything.

Dobyns 805 CB RM. I just saw they now make a glass version. Paul Mueller signature. Interested.

I throw them on a St.Croix Mojo bass 7'4" Crankster and love it. Recently bought a Dobyns 736CB for the same application that feels good in my hands just haven't used it yet.

I have a 705 Max 3D cranking rod that works well for the 5XD and the 6XD. I use a 6-1 gear ratio reel on this rod. I also throw square bills, top water baits and lipless baits on this set up. It is very versatile for cranking.
I also have a 7ft 6in Duckett Micro Magic crank bait rod that works well also. I use a 5.5-1 gear ratio reel on this rod.

Lol, I bought too many and I sold the rod I had been using for deeper cranking so I decided to try something new.

I just picked up a Zodias 7'6" MH/M. It's a blend but I've had one before and really liked it. Pairing it with a Curado 200i PG.

I am a big dobyn's fan and have the 805 cbrm and the 806 cb, but for the money....I love this rod. You can really chunk a 6xd with it.

Yea. I'm normally a falcon rod type but I didn't really like their cranking rod. The quantum will chunk a 6xd a long way out there
