I considered myself a pretty good fisherman. I live about 10 miles away and fish the lake somewhat regularly. But after the big bass tournament, I have come to realize I stink. The week before the tourney I thought I had em figured out and was catching some good fish with regularity. Then the rain came and muddied up the water. I figured I could still do ok having several backup locations to fish but I stunk it up there too. After seeing what it took to get a check these last 2 days, I've come to terms with being a mediocre fisherman. Man, some big fish came across the scales and congrats to all those that cashed a check. I'll be back out there tomorrow stinking it up some more.

Conroe will humble any fisherman. Its been a grind these past two days for me with lots of under sized fished and an insane amount of boat traffic

Keep at it, it only takes one bite to change everything in our format. That's the beauty of it.

Me too buddy.....conroe is a mean mean lake that serves large doses of humility on a daily basis

I heard over 900 entries. That's about 2700 fishing days with good conditions. They are going to catch some fish. Unless you catch the right ones catching them really isn't better than not catching them. One cast can change things.

I live on waterfront on Conroe and fish it multiple times a week and its by far the most difficult lake I have ever fished. The lake has very little grass in most of it and has tremendous amounts of forage. I have never seen a lake with this much shad in it. The fish have plenty to eat and thats why they get big and are dont want to bite your Senko. There have been days we have fished all day and not gotten a single bite. We caught 1 large mouth bass in the entire month of January, despite fishing 8-10 times with 2 guys in the boat. This lake is extremely difficult to pattern also. We have been out trying to find a pattern then all the sudden we find something that works and they start ripping our arms off. It will work for an hour then stop suddenly. We throw the same thing over and over for the rest of the months and never catch a fish. A good day for us is 5 fish each. But that being said in the last 6 months I have seen 2 fish caught over 8 pounds and 1 over 7, and numerous over 4 out mine or my neighbors boat. So in roughly 80 man fish days I saw 2 over 8lb and 1 over 7lb. With 2700 Man fish days in this tournament I am not surprised at the weights. I fish another 20 yeas I think there is a good chance I could put up a 12lber smile

I always used to say my favorite bait(s) change weekly on that lake, still holds true to this day!
