My Minnkota MK-330D charger is dead. No light for power coming in. It shows no status on the batteries. I downloaded the owner manual and it shows a diagrham of all the internal parts. It shows I believe item 27 or 37? as being like an overload fuse or something? Anyway, it is out of warranty so I call Minnkota to see how to handle sending it in. The lady proceeds to tell me that they are sealed and they don't service them. If they are under warranty they just send you a new one. I said huh so why do they have a diagrham of the internal parts? She said I don't know that is a good question. I said so I just have to buy another one. She said yes. I have always been a loyal minnkota customer both chargers and trolling motors. If I do decide to change teams, what is the census of the best charger? Thanks, H20Dawg ><>

I bought two rebuilt ones; once upon a time; so somebody knows how to tear into them.

Looks like they are a sealed unit but I read where some people have had problems with a solder coming loose or a few other things that they were able to repair themselves. I'd do a little reading maybe at BBC before I plopped down another $400. Might be something simple that you can do yourself.

Have two 440 chargers with one bank out on each. Went with a smart charger 4 bank for a lot less than MinnKota wants for theirs. Chris at Classic Fiberglass sells them and installs also, give him a call.

I have two DualPro chargers now....no issues. Before those I have a ProMariner.....the epoxy broke loose from fishing a small boat in rough water. I had fuses in it. When they blew, I could easily pull out the epoxy "bottom" and replace these fuses.
I still have that charger, and it still works, I use it for my riding mower now.

Yeah, I used to run pro mariner after the second one I decided to go minnkota. Guess I should have went straight to dual pro. I forgot about those until the above post. I have seen some post in the past about how good they are. I'm just getting old and forgetful (involuntary amnesia). Thanks for the post guys.

I've found that over the years that the kota's and dual pro's were amongst the better chargers available and about the same reliability wise, with some being really good and others being really bad, and most hovering somewhere in the middle. The one system I have yet to hear anything bad about are the Stealth systems, they are a bit pricier but of the guys I know who run the ac/dc systems they have no complaints and the d/c charging system is more than adequate to maintain battery levels for several full days without plugging in. Ima get Santa to bring me one for Christmas.

I went through 3 Minnkota chargers before I wised up and picked up a Dual Pro. Save yourself the headache and learn from my mistakes. Go with the Dual Pro.

Thanks, H20Dawg ><> Well I guess there is a time limit on editing post, so I will add to this. I need to apologize for the rant. Apparently my charger is working, I have a short in my extension cord. At the time of previous post I had checked power at plug with a volt meter and had power. I twist the plug and loose power so it is not my unit itself. Not wanting to change my statement, just manning up and saying I am an idiot for not thoroughly checking my power supply.
