Going to look at a 2012 Z9. Coming out of a 97' 202 Champ. I know they won't ride the same, but anyone that actually has a Z9 that can give me some feedback would be appreciated. No "I think" stories. If you have one, or have had one, tell me the straight skinny please! Thanks!

Interested too, with the current prices Nirtos are the only ones that seem affordable. KVD sure doesnt seem to have any problems running the whizz out of his.

It's a 21ft boat. If you know how to drive it, you'll be dry. If you don't, (as is my case after yesterday), you'll get wet from time to time and maybe need a chiropractor too! Ha.

All of them I have been in we're fine riding boats.

Hey Steez...how would you compare your boat (ride wise) to other boats you've ridden in the same length. Do you own a Z9? All boats will get you wet from time to time...even my old Champ. But it cuts thru the water better than most. The downside is that it sits up really high and is not the greatest fishing platform. Good trade off in my opinion. Not looking for the fastest boat any more. Been there. Looking for something that won't beat my back and kidneys to death.

Completely different ride from your ChampioN. Your champioN is a sports car. One of the best handling boats ever made. Nitro will be more of a luxury car ride. Maybe more like a Camry as a comparison or a Toyota Avalon. Not the best ride, but solid and serviceable. 21 foot boat will be a dry ride too. I think the biggest plus will be fishing platform. That will be an very wide platform to fish from. I think that aspect you will love compared to your Champ. Storage for days.

I would not even argue that one, since I use to run champs in the 90s. But champs had issues too back then. The z9 is a good riding boat, the z21 is better. But I was very pleased with my Z9s.

PM me and we can discuss.

Good info. I will always assume that nothing is gonna ride like my 202, but that's not changing my mind. Getting a "new to me boat" and need good first hand info to help with the process. BMCD, with a 250 on it what was top end on your Z9's? James Biggs, are you in a Z9? Thanks for the feedback!

Ride in what kind of water??

I think a lot of people really think they can find a bass boat that "rides smooth" and "rides dry" in 20+ MPH winds. In true 20+ MPH winds in open water, where the waves actually build, you're not really going to find a bass boat that rides really "smooth or dry".

As for the Z9 it's a 21 foot+ boat that is relatively heavy, if you know how to drive a boat it should ride just fine...

off topic but make sure it is not from Killeen area. There was a "great deal 2012 z9" floating around here and on trader for awhile. It was listed as traded in at auto dealership, long story but they are trying to rip someone, it was lots of newish parts put together by their mechanics.

I prefer my nitros to my champion. Champion rode better in rough water, but the storage, fishing platform & just about everything else I prefer the nitro. Knowing how to drive in rough water is more important than the brand of boat you are in.
