The original plan was to go Amistad next week, but something came up where it wouldn't make much sense for us to go all the way out there.. My friend and I are going to stay at his hunting lease in Buffalo instead. We just going to get up every morning and go the lakes around the area.. Neither of us have been to neither Fairfield or RC.

The main question here is are there any navigation hazards to watch out for on these 2 lakes? I'm also curious about the same thing for Limestone.. My friend claims he knows his way around out there, but just to be on the safe side I'd like to hear from y'all as well.

Where do y'all usually put in at RC?

One more... (sorry for all the reading..)- I understand Fairfield has gone through a lot of fish kills, which is making me wonder if it's even worth trying that place. Your thoughts?

Bear with me! We'll be fishing a handful of new territory and rather be safe than sorry!!

Fairfield is easy.....Richland chambers is not.

Fairfield has a few stumps in the far upper ends of each creek channel. Past the south boat ramp....all else is pretty much wactcha see is whatcha get. Easy.

RC? Oh GOD! That lake has stumps everywhere. And most are about 6" above and below the waterline. No rhyme or reason......just stumps! Some in 5 ft.....some in 35 ft. Be careful and idle everywhere....I almost [censored] myself on that lake a couple weeks ago. On plane going 60mph.....then looked up and there I was.....surrounded! This was after I had been through the same area 3 time before that same day.

For the life of me I don't know how I haven't sunk my boat on that lake yet.

After both of y'alls response, I'll take a pass on RC and go a bit further to Cedar Creek. Where to put in/what to look out for there??

Is Fairfield worth the time after all the fish kills?

Cedar creek put in at Log Cabin and turn left or right and you will find stuff to catch fish on.

If you go up north or towards the back of some creeks there is a need to watch out. But, if you stay on the main lake, mostly just stay off the points and watch your GPS mapping for the higher spots

It's sounds so cliche, but really fishing docks at CC is never a bad idea...

Any one else have any info on Limestone, Fairfield, or Cedar Creek? I'm still wondering if Fairfield is worth the try and if there's anything to watch for on Limestone.

Limestone is a fun little lake, but the local knowledge is guarded tightly... I put in on the southside my first time and did not get a bite (september).

The next day, I put in up north by the bridge and had a blast throwing a squarebill, shakey head and texas rig worms. Lot's of big fish in that lake.

You can run pretty safely if you pay attention, the water is low, so stump fields are pretty easy to see, but, when in doubt...idle.

Fairfield was good Saturday. Caught a bunch. My advice on Fairfield is once you catch a fish, slow down and fish the area thoroughly. You will have to weed through a bunch of little fish, but we found some 19" fish in every school.
