Hey guys! I’m looking for some help. I’m taking my Father-in-Law fishing next Wednesday. He doesn’t get to fish much, so I’m looking for a tip on a lake that is fishing good for numbers of 2-3lbers. We live in DFW a and don’t really want to go more than 2 hours one way. I’d just fish Squaw if it were open!

I haven't been on it in a while but Grapevine was always good for numbers for me. Plus its got some really good smallmouth. Just throw a small Texas rig worm in Watermelon Red or Green pumpkin. Or a small 1.5 square bill. Do that and you should catch em.

Welsh has been pretty good for numbers. On a Wednesday boat traffic should be lighter.

I have heard the bite on Roberts is turning on. I'll be out there in the morning and let you know how it goes.

Awesome! I like RayBob, but it’s been tough for me. I’d love to get out there when they’re eating

Where are you launching? I want to follow you around to find the Roberts meanmouth!

And to the OP, the numbers of moderately sized bass should be good on Monticello in the community holes (bridges & discharge). Another option for out east...

Me too. Found some 2 Saturdays ago deep. Water temps were right around 59.
