Weights are way down and big fish(5-7)lbers are definately down. I'm not trying to start an argument but we have been having this conversation at the ramp quite abit lately. Yes I'm aware there is a good fish caught from time to time. I may be wrong and I am a lot but something seems wrong out there!

There's no way over a hot 2 months you can come to any conclusion. Maybe in 3 4 or 5 years you can. I'd say no.

Chris I've actually been thinking the same thing you know first few opens in November were won with those staple squaw creek bags even with multiple 20lb stringers. (Unfortunately I can't break 18 this year.) Fast forward to the park being opened up on Thursday's and more recently Monday's I feel as if it's getting hammered. Tourney after tourney and multiple tourneys on the same day are effecting it I believe. That being said today was Monday 18 of us fished an open tourney doubt there was any other tourney on a Monday and the line was backed up almost to 144 before they ever opened the gate. It's a holiday so more people are able but it is being over worked right now IMHO.

I think we need to take some fish out. I think keeping two man limits of 5 fish would help. Way to many small fish. It needs to be managed badly

There needs to be a weigh in system similiar to MLF, catch the fish, weigh the fish, record the weight, release the fish on the spot. Too many fish are dying from time caught, to weigh in, to release. Count the number of tournaments, number of fish caught, and holding times these fish are enduring, then take into account the number of tourney fishers in older boats with obsolete live wells. I know you can't put a person to weigh and verify on every tourney boat, it needs to be all electronic.

i think she will be just fine. Back in the 90's it was not uncommon to be waiting on Hwy 144 for the gate to open and there were many tournaments (Honey Hole, Anglers Choice, etc.) that drew well over 100 boats. The weights are the same or better now than they were back then. I think the biggest difference this year is that they didn't shut the plant down for 2 weeks this fall and the fish have not set up on their typical pre-spawn patterns yet. I would bet we will see some big sacks winning the tournaments comin up in January and February.

I bet 1% of fisherman out there actually keep there limit of five bass... keeping five between that 14-17 inch range would help the fishery. It's set that way for a reason. I don't keep mine so I'm just a guilty, but I do feel there are a lot 2 pound bass in squaw.

The weather is way off this year, thus the lake is way behind on fish migration. The fish are moving daily and are running way behind on getting to there normal spots I'm still catching a lot of fish in there migration paths that they travel out to main lake. I have yet to catch them in the same spot 2wks in a row and have to relocate them. They usually haven't moved far but in a 50-100yrd stretch. I don't belive tournaments have hurt it in anyway, the biggest problem is some people don't know how or care to fizz the fish and release them at the ramp.

With today being a holiday it was absolutely hammered, at the guard shack they said there was 115 on the list. I would expect next Monday to be the exact same way... we still managed to have a good day but had to to work for it. Weird thing was it never really felt too crowded on the water. I am in agreement with the comment about learning to fizz, if you're going to fish deep you should darn well know how to properly fizz and take care of your fish. Some nice ones floating upside down trying to right themselves today in the ramp cove.

Tournaments are not hurting the fish. How would anyone explain rayburn or toledo.
I think its a thought process that will eventually put limitations on fishing. We complain about cali regs, they are headed to Texas soon.

Of course they affect the fishing. Pressure is the number one thing that makes the catching in a particular lake go bad IMO. I believe Toledo will decline soon with all of the pressure it is getting. Been deer hunting a lot this year and this is my observation and I think it applies to fish as well. When humans intrude on an animals environment, they change their behavior to avoid the humans. This is nothing new or no great discovery on my part it is just front of mind right now because I hunt a relatively small family property with too many people hunting it. Squaw, Welsh, Monti, relatively small lakes with too many people fishing them.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

The last two years 2014 and 2015 they shut down one of the reactors in October for maintenance. It cooled the lake down at an accelerated pace. Fish moved up the last two years quicker than usual. I think the lake is right on schedule, I caught my first 6lber there this weekend. Big fish will be moving up over the next three full moons and I also heard they are scheduled to shut down one of the reactors for maintenance again in April and I feel they will move up again in April and May. Last year the temps in early October were 78 down by the dam. This year I don't think those temps got there till this last winter blast two weekends ago. So just be patient grasshopper!

Yes, lakes like Rayburn and T Bend are taking a pounding and so are the fish. When you have 3 or 4 tournaments a weekend, it affects the lake and the fish. I remember when Livingston was the go to lake and look at it now. These lakes will stop producing and then it will be on to Falcon for the next round.
