I'm looking for somewhere to fish tomorrow. I want to go to Fork tomorrow night but am solo and not sure that I want to deal with the wind that is suppose to be coming. Thinking also about heading to Welsh in the morning but I know the power plant isn't really running and have only been on the lake once and not sure what the bite would be like and if it is worth the drive. Might just fish Pool but haven't been on it in a couple of weeks and wasn't having much luck there a few weeks ago. Not sure where the fish would be right now with this weird winter we've had.

Anyone fished pool lately and know what the bite is like? Any suggestions for a trip reasonably close to Arlington?

The plant was running one stack on Monti. The bite was off some from the online video, but there's still a chance at fish. Starting to get some schooling around the discharge. A north wind there will keep you from fighting the TM too much!

I caught a few today at Monti. Nothing bigger than 2 1/2 lbs but it was fun. Had to slow down and let swimbait get down in pads to get bit for me. No bites near surface. Caught three more on deep diving crankbait late. Watched a guy put on a clinic earlier in the day, he was on them. I watched him catch 4 good ones, quick, and several smaller ones in 20 minutes. Hard to tell exactly how big but I saw some big heads and bellies from a distance. The bank fishermen were catching crappie as fast as they could cast out, not big ones but all keepers. I've never caught a crappie there. I'll be back.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

We fished Monticello yesterday and smoked em. They did have one stack running. South end 66 to 68 degrees, discharge 79 degrees. We had 74 in the boat. I am doing trips here on Fork and over at Monty this Winter if someone wants learn that lake better. You will learn what baits, colors and techniques work best there. It will be a fun and informative trip. You can call or PM me.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just got back off a long trip for work and just could not get any motivation to get up early and drive 2 or 3 hours today so I slept in. Going to try Piil since it is 20 minutes from home. May try some of the suggestions next week.
