Hey TFF,

I have been a member far a while...Conventional Bass fished since 3 or 4 years old, not I'm 36 now and it's been awhile since I have fished the worm, jigs, square bill etc. I still fish 3-4 times a week but these lures used to always be tied onto my rods on deck. Catching fish on these baits on a fairly regular basis... But about 3-4years ago I got interested in specifically targeting trophy fish and felt the best way to do this was to throw BIG baits. I still have a ton of love and respect for the traditional bass lures and fishing techniques. But in the past 3-4 years I have switched to exclusively throwing swimbaits and my taste keeps getting larger(And more expensive). Now the rods on the deck of my boat all have swimbaits on them...Everything from a Keitech to a Deps 250. I feel the urge grab a jig and pitch but feel I have lost my touch...It's apparent my response and feel has suffered from basically "strait Cranking" swimbaits for the last 3 years...But I need to get my jig bite back...

Anyone else got the swimbait bug and cant shake it?

Lets get together and throw some BIG stuff!

God Bless-Justin

How would you say you have been doing with the large swimbaits? I've looked into the large hard swimbaits and I'm intrigued, how did your catch rate change? Catching larger fish more often than before?

Ratio of catching fish over 5Lbs has increased drastically...Rarely do I catch a fish less than 4Lbs

But my total number of catches has dropped dramatically...

I'm ok with that since I'm after larger fish-eliminating the "Small Fish" by presenting a larger profile bait...

Larger baits have also been exciting of seeing the drawing power to see the trophy fish that live in the area...

Even if they don't bite- it's cool to see the monsters that you didn't know were in the area...

What swim baits do you do best on? What would you recommend throwing at Roberts and Texoma?

I have a lot of large swim baits both hard bodied and soft plastic so I really need to throw them more than I do.

I have the bug but I don't throw them all the time. Just when the right situation presents itself. I need to throw them more

What's the ideal time of year or conditions to throw the big baits?

I've dabbled and had some luck but I'm no expert.

Maybe if I actually caught a fish with one, I'd be more apt to keep chunking it. But, I have caught my biggest fish on other stuff.

I carry a few in my boat. Here is a 7" handpour I pour myself as well as an 8 and 10" MB soft swimbait and the limited run MB I Slide 262T in BBD Carp. They only made 100 in that pattern and I grabbed 2 of them.

Been wanting to get into the swim bait game. Actually just bought a couple 3:16 rising sons, so looking forward to getting them wet

Maybe an insurance policy as well for that $500 swimbait. Wow

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

Been throwing them for over 20 years probably have close to 100 swimbaits. Have them from original AC plugs, hudds, Rago, castaic, Deps, megabass and many more. Don't really throw the discontinued ones cause they can't be replaced. I'll throw them from spring through summer from shallow to deep just depends on how the bass are setup.
