I buy my son lures for his birthday each year.

Need 2 lures that represent 2016

I figure one is the Whopper Plopper.....what else? New this year or made a splash this year.

2 that have been around longer but were very strong this year were the Yellow Magic and the Yamamato Senko....

But seem to have "arrived" this year.....at least to me. Lots of tourney talk regarding them this year

Hollow-body Sunfish?

Agree with the Whopper Plopper.

If you want to see renewed interest on something (especially locally), because of the company going out of business, bubble fry!

Swim baits in general are very "this year".

Agree, get him a pack of bubble fries before they completely disappear from shelves

It's been the year of the buzzbait for me. Have caught fish on it every month this year.

Also have caught a ton of fish swimming a speed craw.

The 2 baits I've seen talked about this year the most were by far the Whopper Plopper and Yellow Magic.

Swimbaits in the conversion as well

For me, the swim jig has been a definite new player for me this year. Then a buzzbait.

Fish don't care about fancy new lures. Buy him some football jigs.

Weightless wacky rigged senkos seem to get it done even in tough conditions. Ive never used them but i also cant go anywhere without hearing about em especially on tough bite days
