I like to throw a chatter bait and usually down size to the smaller micro chatters (1/8oz).. They get a lot of bites but sometimes the hook is a little too flimsy .. I lose a few fish here and there on them .. The next size up 1/4 oz have a bigger hook and aren't too heavy as I find the 3/8 and 1/2 oz are sometimes but they seem to be faulty .. Every 1/4 oz chatter I have purchased in the past couple of months will not run true for some reason .. I've probably tried 6-8 new 1/4 oz ones and all of them fail .. The blade rubbing the head of the bait maybe? Idk what the issue is but I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the 1/4 oz chatters ? I know chatter baits lose a few fish in general but the 1/8 oz ones are extremely flimsy

I've had two 3/8 not run true on me. Never thrown the lighter ones.

Chatterbait brand or another brand? Those that attach to the head with a split ring have a habit of not running true and not vibrating.

Line size maybe? It's a thought, might downsize your line on the smaller baits.

Personally I love the 1/4 oz. quick retrieve gets them thumping. If it stops a twitch of the rod will speed it back up

I am throwing original z mans .. I don't think it's a line issue bc the 1/8oz run true always .. I have noticed jerking or a quick twitch will help it run true again but when I am just trying to slow roll it thru cover or not it will stick and run funny .. Sometimes those jerks and twitches draw strikes but I fish it different ways as well .. Thanks for input I was just wondering .. Sometimes the bigger baits are too heavy to get thru cover efficiently
