Well fortunately the owl self released, I learned, on Lewisville years ago, to give them line so they don't hook themselves. And speaking of lessons learned, thr one om Lewisville was a duck, a mallard drake actually, that i pitched around the corner of a dock and he flew off from where I couldn't see with a square bill in his foot. The lesson there was, when you get them close to the boat as you are reeling them in, give them a minute....because if you don't you are going to get really, really familiar with just how much poop a mallard drake has in him...just friendly advice
