I am upgrading my motor on a boat and am wondering if there is a market for 200 hp motors from the early nineties? Any thoughts? Should I be posting on a website or trying to sell to a dealer?thanks for your time

post to your local craiglist?
i would say post it in the classifieds but you dont have enough post to do that. If its in good running condition its probably worth a couple grand with a title.

Yes there is a market as long as you have a title. Without a title it is a hard sale

I have a blown etec in the garage I have had on BBC for over a year. Once the lower unit and cowling was sold, I have not been able to move any more parts. I figured if I can't sell 2006 parts I could not move 1990s parts. My 1994 merc runs perfectly and my 1991 runs too but is not as nice as the 1994. I will try BBC and see what happens but my experience so far has not been great. With both merc motors being at lake fork I think I will pay the fee and list them on here and see if there is any interest in Texas. Thanks for the input gents

Older motors are usually less. Has to be priced right enough. Is it rebuildable? Including controls, prop, etc.?LU Good? Pretty much has to be a good deal in case it has to be rebuilt or someone wants one to build a race motor with it. Lots out there for $2500 or less. TFF/BBC/Craigslist/Boat Trader. See where price point is on one like you've got. It still cost almost as much to build an older one as a new one. Parts & machine work isn't cheaper because it's older & parts actually can be more because of availability issues. A running 91 Merc 200 around $1500-2000. A running 94 Merc 200 $1700-2800. All controls around $150-250. I have a running rebuildable 1994' 200 Vindicator that I'd be happy to get $2500 for. 1 cylinder at 95,5 cylinders at 102-112. Estimates to completely rebuild from $3800-4700. 2005-2010 motor running with controls range from $6400 to over $9000. So therein lies the problem. Sell mine & spend 6 to 9K or spend 5K rebuild & still have a 22yr old motor???? Sorry for the long post but I send good luck wishes for you to get em sold.
